One of the best hot rod builders in the South, 20-time One Lap competitor and true gentleman, Glen Dodd of the Carolina Rod Shop, climbed his shop roof today to make repairs and fell off. Right now he's in ICU in pretty rough shape. Please keep Glen in your thoughts and prayers as we all hope for a speedy recovery.
I'll try and keep everyone notified of developments as they happen. It's too soon for flowers or notes as they are still trying to determine the extent of the injuries.

No progress to report yet. Glen is still in ICU, heavily sedated because of the pain. Big gash on his head, bleeding in the brain, sternum broken in three places, collapsed lungs, most of the ribs are apparently broken, dislocated or smashed. The next 48 hours are key. At least he's stubborn and strong.
That's the report as of this morning, I'll call again tomorrow and report any changes.

As soon as he wakes up I am going over there and ask him what the heck he was doing on the roof in the first place! :x _________________ 2006 - We were there!

There is no change in Glen's status to report today.
The Carolina Rod shop is posting updates on his condition as they change on their website and may be the best place for information.

Copied from the CRS website... classic Glen!
3/9/10 - 9:30 am: Glen is in a monitored room now but he is not cooperating. He has been up all night trying to get out of bed and go home. He jerked his cathria out this morning and said I'm leaving. The clots are still in his leg and he is still having some trouble breathing with the trachea in. Family is pretty much having to stay with him 24-7 to "try" and keep him calm but not working right now. Everyone that knows Glen he is a very stubborn one. HAHA! When he wants to do something he's at it 100% to do it but in this case he's gonna lose because he is not in a state to be the boss.
Thanks again for all the support and keep prayers going. CRS |

Glen is clearly an icon within an iconic setting...OLOA.
The Kingston Krew extends Best Wishes for a "speedy" recovery to Glen. To his family, and his manymany friends, ya can't keep a good man down for long!
South Bend awaits, my friend, and we hope to see you and Charles and "STE.." there! |

GREAT news!!
I just talked with the folks @ the Shop, and they expect Glen to enter Rehab in the next day or three!
"6-8 weeks at Roger C. Pearce Rehab", is their guess, which means we might see him in South Bend...maybe...possibly...perhaps...
But we WILL see him! For that, we're all very grateful.
Edit 3/16: Glen is now moved in, progressing very favorably, considering what he went through...
Again, Best Wishes for a "speedy" recovery!! |
